What is Zestril?
If you take more Zestoretic than you should If you take more Zestoretic than prescribed by your doctor, talk to a doctor or go to a hospital immediately. If you forget to take Zestoretic If you forget to take a dose, take it as soon as you remember. However, if it is nearly time for the next dose, skip the missed dose. Do not take a double dose to make up for a forgotten dose. If you stop taking Zestoretic Do not stop taking your tablets, even if you are feeling well, unless your doctor tells you to.
Possible side effects Like all medicines, this medicine can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them. Possible side effects with lisinopril Severe allergic reactions rare, may affect up to 1 in 1,000 people If you have a severe allergic reaction, stop taking Zestoretic and see a doctor immediately.
The signs may include sudden onset of: Swelling of your face, lips, tongue or throat. Severe liver problems very rare, may affect up to 1 in 10,000 people The signs may include: Yellowing of your skin or eyes, dark coloured urine or a loss of appetite. If this happens to you, see a doctor immediately. Other possible side effects: Common may affect up to 1 in 10 people Headache.
Lovastatin Concomitant administration of ACE inhibitors and lovastatin increases the risk of hyperkalaemia. Cytostatics, immunosuppressives, procainamide Thiazides may reduce the renal excretion of cytotoxic medicinal products e.
Other concomitant therapy Thiazides may increase the risk of adverse effects caused by amantadine. Lisinopril: Blood and lymphatic system disorders: Decreases in haemoglobin, decreases in haematocrit. Bone marrow depression, anaemia, thrombocytopenia, leucopenia, neutropenia, agranulocytosis see section 4. Lisinopril Mechanism of action Lisinopril is a peptidyl dipeptidase inhibitor.
Pharmacodynamic effects While the mechanism through which lisinopril lowers blood pressure is believed to be primarily suppression of the renin-angiotensin-aldosterone system, lisinopril is antihypertensive even in patients with low-renin hypertension. Hydrochlorothiazide Mechanism of action Hydrochlorothiazide is a diuretic and an antihypertensive agent. Pharmacodynamic effects Thiazides do not usually affect normal blood pressure. Lisinopril Absorption Following oral administration of lisinopril, peak serum concentrations occur within about 7 hours, although there was a trend to a small delay in time taken to reach peak serum concentrations in acute myocardial infarction patients.
Lisinopril absorption is not affected by the presence of food.
How should I take Zestril?
Breast-feeding is also not recommended as the drug can be passed on to the infant through breast milk. To ensure safety of using Zestoretic, inform the doctor of any illnesses that may be present like allergies, heart disease, glaucoma, diabetes, liver or kidney problems, penicillin intolerance and if you recently had an organ transplant.
Get emergency help if you encounter signs of allergic reactions with Zestoretic like stomach ache, breathing difficulty, swelling of the face, lips, tongue or throat.
Rush to a doctor if you suffer from fever, eye pain, restlessness, drowsiness, vision changes, jaundice, little or no urination, nausea, constipation, leg cramps, excessive thirst, frequent and increased urination, headache, vomiting, and confusion. Zestril side effects
The presence of these pre-existing conditions may not allow you to take Zestoretic. Certain vitamins and herbal supplements may negatively interact with this drug. Inform your doctor of all the medication, both prescribed and over-the-counter, that you are taking. In the case of overdose, call emergency medical services. Drink sufficient fluids while taking this medication to prevent dehydration.
The consumption of alcohol may increase the prospect of side effects.

The risk of lithium toxicity is increased in patients receiving medications that may affect kidney function, such as ACEIs.

Black Cohosh, Cimicifuga racemosa: Actein and certain acids isolated from the rhizome of Cimicifuga spp. Black cohosh, Cimicifuga racemosa has potentiated the effects of antihypertensive medications in some animal studies, and actein may have peripheral vasodilatory activity.
