Generic Name: Generic zestoretic
What is Generic Zestoretic?
Each tablet contains lisinopril dihydrate equivalent to anhydrous lisinopril 20 mg and hydrochlorothiazide 12.
Round, biconvex, peach uncoated tablets, containing lisinopril dihydrate and hydrochlorothiazide. The tablets have 'Zt' and '10'on one side. The usual dosage is one tablet, administered once daily. As with all other medication taken once daily, Zestoretic should be taken at approximately the same time each day. In general, if the desired therapeutic dose cannot be achieved in a period of 2 to 4 weeks at this dose level, the dose can be increased to two tablets administered once daily.
Zestoretic is not to be used as initial therapy in any patient with renal insufficiency. The recommended initial dose of lisinopril, when used alone, in mild renal insufficiency, is 5 to 10 mg.
Water tablets diuretic medicines. Medicines that contain gold, such as sodium aurothiomalate, which may be given to you as an injection. What are the possible risks or side-effects. If you have a severe allergic reaction, stop taking Zestoretic and see a doctor immediately.
Being unable to get an erection impotence. While taking 'Zestoretic', if you develop any of the following symptoms you should let you doctor know immediately: jaundice yellowing of the skin and whites of the eyes. Can I drink alcohol while taking it. If you drink alcohol while taking 'Zestoretic', it may cause your blood pressure to drop and you may experience dizziness, light-headedness or faintness. You should also keep your alcohol intake to a minimum.
Zestoretic cannot be used during pregnancy. A decision should be made by the doctor whether to discontinue breast feeding or discontinue Zestoretic. How should I take Generic Zestoretic?
The recommended initial dose of lisinopril, when used alone, in mild renal insufficiency, is 5 to 10 mg. The diuretic therapy should be discontinued for 2-3 days prior to initiation of therapy with Zestoretic. If this is not possible, treatment should be started with lisinopril alone, in a 5 mg dose. In clinical studies the efficacy and tolerability of lisinopril and hydrochlorothiazide, administered concomitantly, were similar in both elderly and younger hypertensive patients. Lisinopril, within a daily dosage range of 20 to 80 mg, was equally effective in the elderly 65 years or over and non-elderly hypertensive patients, monotherapy with lisinopril was as effective in reducing diastolic blood pressure as monotherapy with either hydrochlorothiazide or atenolol.
What should I avoid while taking Generic Zestoretic?
Triamterene: ACE inhibitors can increase the risk of hyperkalemia developing in patients receiving triamterene, especially in the presence of renal impairment. Tubocurarine: Concomitant administration of hydrochlorothiazide to patients receiving nondepolarizing neuromuscular blockers e.
Valdecoxib: Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs NSAIDs may reduce the natriuretic effect of diuretics in some patients. Valsartan: Most patients receiving the combination of two renin-angiotensin-aldosterone system RAAS inhibitors, such as angiotensin-converting enzyme inhibitors ACE inhibitors and angiotensin II receptor antagonists ARBs do not obtain any additional benefit compared to monotherapy. Venlafaxine: Patients receiving a diuretic during treatment with venlafaxine may be at greater risk of developing syndrome of inappropriate antidiuretic hormone secretion SIADH.
Generic Zestoretic side effects
You may have very low blood pressure while taking this medication. Call your doctor if you are sick with vomiting or diarrhea, or if you are sweating more than usual. While using hydrochlorothiazide and lisinopril, you may need frequent blood tests at your doctor's office. Your blood pressure will need to be checked often. If you need surgery or medical tests, tell the doctor ahead of time that you are taking medication that contains hydrochlorothiazide.
You may need to use blood pressure medication for the rest of your life.

Lithium toxicity has been reported in patients receiving lithium concomitantly with drugs which cause elimination of sodium, including ACE inhibitors.
Lisinopril is an ACE inhibitor and works by relaxing blood vessels so that blood can flow more easily.

Lurasidone: Due to the antagonism of lurasidone at alpha-1 adrenergic receptors, the drug may enhance the hypotensive effects of alpha-blockers and other antihypertensive agents.
Conditions that may cause very low blood pressure include: vomiting, diarrhea, heavy sweating, heart disease, dialysis, a low salt diet, or taking diuretics water pills.
