What is Vepesid?
Follow the directions on your prescription label carefully, and ask your doctor or pharmacist to explain any part you do not understand. Be sure to mention any of the following: cisplatin Platinolcyclosporine Gengraf, Neoral, Sandimmune.
Your doctor may need to change the doses of your medications or monitor you carefully for side effects. Many other medications may also interact with etoposide, so be sure to tell your doctor about all the medications you are taking, even those that do not appear on this list.
You should not become pregnant or breast-feed while you are taking etoposide. If you become pregnant while taking etoposide, call your doctor. Etoposide may harm the fetus. However, if it is almost time for the next dose, skip the missed dose and continue your regular dosing schedule.
Etoposide may cause side effects.
Hello, Im very new to this forum. Just thought id start off by asking if anyone has had chemo treatment with oral Etoposide. I have been prescribed it and am just seeing if anyone else is and how they take it. Did anyone taking it have hair loss.

He has had continuous chemo treatments for brain cancer since Nov 2011 and this was our first delay on chemo. I hope all goes well, the oncologist really do watch your bloods so be secure in that knowledge. How is he coping with the chemo?. Just really nervous going into this. Anyone else had any experience with this drug.

Etoposide belongs to the group of cancer-fighting medications called antineoplastics. Etoposide kills cancer cells by interfering with the genetic material DNA, which is necessary for their growth and reproduction.
Etoposide is used alone or in combination with other antineoplastic medications to treat many types of cancer.
Vepesid side effects
Close monitoring of patients is needed to detect early signs of tumour lysis syndrome, especially in patients with risk factors such as bulky treatment-sensitive tumours, and renal insufficiency.
Appropriate preventive measures should also be considered in patients at risk of this complication of therapy. Concomitant cisplatin therapy is associated with reduced total body clearance of etoposide. Vepesid is teratogenic in rats and mice at dose levels equivalent to those employed clinically.
There are no adequate and well-controlled studies in pregnant women. Vepesid should not normally be administered to patients who are pregnant or to mothers who are breast feeding.

Using etoposide may increase your risk of developing other types of cancer, such as leukemia.
Abdominal pain, anorexia, diarrhoea, oesophagitis and stomatitis occur infrequently.
It is always administered in a hospital or similar setting with access to sterile equipment for preparation.
Administration Vepesid is given in the form of capsule or sometimes intravenously.
Vepesid generic name etoposide etoposide phosphate is used as a form of chemotherapy for malignancies such as Ewing's sarcoma, lung cancer, testicular cancer, lymphoma, non-lymphocytic leukemia, and glioblastoma multiforme. It can also be used in combination with other cancer medications. Vepesid is also sometimes used in a conditioning regimen prior to a bone marrow or blood stem cell transplant.
