Generic Name: Prometrium

What is Prometrium?

Amprenavir: Coadministration with strong CYP3A4 inhibitors such as amprenavir is not recommended without adjustments in the dosing regimen of tacrolimus and subsequent close monitoring of tacrolimus whole blood trough concentrations and tacrolimus-associated adverse reactions. Anagrelide: Torsades de pointes TdP and ventricular tachycardia have been reported during post-marketing use of anagrelide.

A cardiovascular examination, including an ECG, should be obtained in all patients prior to initiating anagrelide therapy.

Monitor patients during anagrelide therapy for cardiovascular effects and evaluate as necessary. Drugs with a possible risk for QT prolongation and TdP that should be used cautiously and with close monitoring with anagrelide include tacrolimus.

Angiotensin-converting enzyme inhibitors: Tacrolimus, in the absence of overt renal impairment, may adversely affect renal function. Care should be taken in using tacrolimus with other nephrotoxic drugs, including ACE inhibitors.

Antimetabolites: Antimetabolites, like fluorouracil and hydroxyurea, exhibit significant myelosuppression that may lead to additive effects with immunosuppressives. While therapy is designed to take advantage of this effect, clinicians should be alert for possible combined drug actions, desirable or undesirable, and the potential need for dosage adjustment.

Over-immunosuppression or myelosuppression may result in an increased risk of infection or other side effects. Antithymocyte Globulin: Because antithymocyte globulin is an immunosuppressant, additive effects may be seen with other immunosuppressives.

How should I take Prometrium?

Renal and Hepatic Impairment The mean pharmacokinetic parameters for tacrolimus following single administrations to patients with renal and hepatic impairment are given in Table 15. Race The pharmacokinetics of tacrolimus have been studied following single IV and oral administration of Prograf to 10 African-American, 12 Latino-American, and 12 Caucasian healthy volunteers. Gender A formal trial to evaluate the effect of gender on tacrolimus pharmacokinetics has not been conducted, however, there was no difference in dosing by gender in the kidney transplant trial.

Liver Transplantation The safety and efficacy of Prograf-based immunosuppression following orthotopic liver transplantation were assessed in two prospective, randomized, non-blinded multicenter trials. Heart Transplantation Two open-label, randomized, comparative trials evaluated the safety and efficacy of Prograf-based and cyclosporine-based immunosuppression in primary orthotopic heart transplantation.

Prograf can cause serious side effects, including: Increased risk of cancer. People who take Prograf have an increased risk of getting some kinds of cancer, including skin and lymph gland cancer lymphoma.

The CHMP gave a positive opinion on 26 January 2006 recommending the harmonisation of the SPC for Prograf and associated names. The immune system is thought to be involved in a disorder which causes the kidneys to leak protein into the urine Nephrotic Syndrome.

It is widely used to prevent rejection of transplanted organs, such as the kidney, heart, and liver. Why is Tacrolimus needed for Nephrotic Syndrome patients.

Prometrium side effects

The injection is given until you are ready to take the pill form of tacrolimus. If your doctor changes your brand, strength, or type of tacrolimus, your dosage needs may change. Ask your pharmacist if you have any questions about the new kind of tacrolimus you receive at the pharmacy. While using Prograf, you may need frequent blood tests.

Your blood pressure will need to be checked often. See also: Dosage Information in more detail Take the missed dose as soon as you remember. Skip the missed dose if it is almost time for your next scheduled dose.

Common Prometrium ide effects may include:

  • Talk to your doctor if you have any additional questions.

  • Carefully observe patients for new adverse effects if the dose of immunosuppressants is reduced, as adverse effects of antithymocyte globulin may have been masked.

  • Information and interactions contained in this Web site are for information purposes only and are not intended to be used to diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any disease.

  • The dose should be adjusted based on tacrolimus trough whole blood concentrations.

Arformoterol: Tacrolimus causes QT prolongation. Aripiprazole: QT prolongation has occurred during therapeutic use of aripiprazole and following overdose. Tacrolimus should be used cautiously and with close monitoring with aripiprazole.

Where can I get more information?

  • Limited data are available regarding the safety of maprotiline in combination with other QT-prolonging drugs.

  • Kidney Transplant The incidence of adverse reactions was determined in three randomized kidney transplant trials.
