I'm hoping to find some pregnant moms who have taken or are taking Effexor while pregnant or breastfeeding. I'm on Effexor and 20wks pregnant. My family doctor and Perinatologist have both said that Effexor is safe to take while preg.
I've got an appt to see if I can wean off of these asap but have been told previously that it is an extemely difficult drug to come off of. Just looking for anyone who might have knowledge or experience. My doctor had me stop taking it when I told her we were wanting to try and get pregnant. Everything I've heard and read says it's not safe. I know if i even miss one day i'm so very sick but i just want to get off of this asap. I've been trying to get through to my doctor non stop but its constantly busy.
I was always told to not get pregnant while on effexor and stayed on the pill while I was on it. Do not stop taking it suddenly as this can be very dangerous.
So for the first 2 weeks I alternated 600 one day and 300 the next. Then gradually you get down to 25 one day and half a capsule the next then half a capsule one day and none the next. Like I said I think this took about 5 months in total and as A result I escaped any noticeable symptoms.
