This drug landed me in Sentara Norfolk with a life threatening closing of my airway finally. The ER doc came in and told me to stop taking the Diovan from now on, period. Since, I have been on two cheap generics that have been on the market for years without incident and satisfactory results.

Since removal from Diovan I have never had the cough, nor any crazy reactions as described. I honestly believe the escalating coughs and coughing spells came from very slight swelling in my throat…which gradually lead to the severe reaction.

Diprolene side effects

Diovan, the most-prescribed angiotensin II receptor blocker ARB on the market, blocks the renin- angiotensin system RASa hormonal system that regulates blood pressure. A newer type of RAS inhibitor, Diovan not only powerfully lowers blood pressure, but is known to have additional positive effects beyond lowering blood pressure.

Despite proven cardiovascular benefits, RAS inhibitors are underused in African Americans because of perceptions about their efficacy in lowering blood pressure. AADVANCE showed Diovan HCT reduced blood pressure as effectively as amlodipine mean reduction in 24-hr ABPM diastolic BP -10.

VALUE Valsartan Antihypertensive Long-term Use Evaluation Trial is also exploring the differential effects of Diovan-based therapy vs. VALUE is designed to discover whether, in high-risk patients with the same level of blood pressure control, Diovan-based therapy has additional effects on cardiovascular outcomes such as heart attack, heart failure and stroke.

Common Diprolene ide effects may include:

  • Valsartan is not removed from the plasma by hemodialysis.

  • Shereen A, Gharbia, PharmDQ: Can I alternate plain Diovan with Diovan HP on alternating days.

  • I wrote earlier about my experiences with Diovan and elevated uric acid and gout.

  • Diovan HCT falls into category D.

Cod Liver Oil: Dose adjustment of vitamin D or vitamin D analogs may be necessary during coadministration with thiazide diuretics. Fish oil supplements may cause mild, dose-dependent reductions in systolic or diastolic blood pressure in untreated hypertensive patients.

Relatively high doses of fish oil are required to produce any blood pressure lowering effect.
