What is Compazine?

Avoid using drugs that can make you sleepy such as sleeping pills, sedatives, tranquilizers, antihistamines, or narcotic pain killers. Compazine Oral Warnings If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, talk to your doctor before using this medicine. Talk with your doctor before using if you have a seizure disorder, heart, liver, or lung disease, or any other medical problem. This medicine may cause drowsiness. If it does, avoid driving a car or operating machinery.

Stand up slowly after you have been sitting or lying down to decrease dizziness. This medicine may make your skin more sensitive to the sun. Try not to spend long periods in direct sunlight and protect your skin from the sun. Prochlorperazine may cause a false reading of some types of pregnancy tests. I usually administer the Toradol at the same time I give the Benadryl and Compazine. Because this combination is very sedating, I require that the patient have a ride home.

In the past few years certain phenothiazine derivatives have been demonstrated to exert very definite antiemetic effects. How should I take Compazine?

Tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking other products that cause drowsiness such as opioid pain or cough relievers such as codeine, hydrocodonealcohol, drugs for sleep or anxiety such as alprazolam, lorazepam, zolpidemmuscle relaxants such as carisoprodol, cyclobenzaprineor antihistamines such as cetirizine, diphenhydramine.

This medication may interfere with certain laboratory tests including phenylketonuria, certain pregnancy testspossibly causing false test results.

Make sure laboratory personnel and all your doctors know you use this drug. If someone has overdosed and has serious symptoms such as passing out or trouble breathing, call 911. What should I avoid while taking Compazine?

This product may contain inactive ingredients, which can cause allergic reactions or other problems. Talk to your pharmacist for more details. This drug may make you dizzy or drowsy or cause blurred vision. Do not drive, use machinery, or do any activity that requires alertness or clear vision until you are sure you can perform such activities safely.

Before having surgery, tell your doctor or dentist about all the products you use including prescription drugs, nonprescription drugs, and herbal products. This medication may make you more sensitive to the sun.
